Last Sunday, I took a little trip out to the Oltrarno, which is basically the part of Florence over the Ponte Vecchio bridge. Palazzo Pitti is over on this side of town and the palazzo is a former Medici residence complete with grand gardens. The building now houses museums (one is a costume museum, which was a draw for me). The gardens have an amazing view of Florence, and the people watching isn't half bad either.
